CHC-9143The set includes a StuG.III Ausf.A along with four (and a half!) German figures. The StuG.III turned into Germany’s most widely produced armored fighting vehicle of WWII, with the Ausf.A getting the series under way. It was produced from January to May 1940. The main armament was a short-barreled 7.5cm StuK 37 L/24 gun. One of the most famous users of the StuG.III A was Michael Wittmann. He served in the LAH Division, and the kit replicates the precise vehicle he commanded during Operation Barbarossa. The included kit comes from existing Dragon toolings, although the product has been enhanced with Magic Tracks and a half-figure representing Wittmann.
The other half of this Orange Box set is a fine ine-up of German figures entitled “Panzermeyer, LAH Division”. There are a handy four figures in the set, as the unit moves deep into Russian territory. The suitability of these figures for use with the StuG.III A kit becomes immediately obvious as they all hark from the same LAH Division. When put together, the German vehicle and soldiers are ideal for an interesting Eastern Front scene. This set from the Orange Box collection offers unbeatable value for money, as do all its predecessors.
