AFV Club Military 1/35 M102 105mm Howitzer Gun Kit

Highly detailed 1/35 scale assembly model kit of the U.S. Army M102 lightweight towed 105 mm howitzer. First introduced in combat during the Vietnam War in 1966, the M102 was slated to replace the highly regarded and battle field tested M101 howitzer. Compared to the M101, the M102 was light-weight (weighing about one ton less than the M101), and the M102 howitzer can be towed by a 2-ton truck or HMMWV, dropped by parachute or transported with its basic load of ammunition by UH60 or larger helicopter and C130 aircraft. The M102 has a very low silhouette when firing, which made it more difficult to spot by the enemy. M102 howitzers last saw combat service during the 1991 Gulf War, and it has since been replaced in the active Army by the M119A1 105mm towed howitzer. The M102 remained in service in several Army National Guard units, and the U.S. Air Force uses the same cannon and recoil system in the AC130 gunship.
