Aoshima Ship Models 1/350 Amerigo Vespucci 3-Masted Rigging Sailing Ship Kit

On the 4th of July, 1976, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, the 20th century's largest tall ship parade was held with participation by 224 sailing ships from countries worldwide. The final tall ship to take part in the parade as a full-sized sailing ship was the Amerigo Vespucci, a 3-masted full-rigged ship of the Italian Navy.

The ship takes Its name from Amerigo Vespucci, the maritime explorer after whom the American continent is named.  The vessel's figurehead consists of a full-size statue of the explorer.
